Storyboarding with pictures

brandon

The shot above was taken when a friend of mine went with me to Galveston to location scout and storyboard a video we are wanting to shoot for camp this year. We probably shot over 100 shots needing only 15 or so. This shot was pure accident but we were really pleased with the angle and idea. Now that we have this shot we know where to come back and we know the angle needed to get this on film. While sometimes shots like this can happen on the fly, having this image engraved in our minds will give us a clear picture of what we need to do at what section of the beach. Once we came back to the office we dragged these photos into a storyboard template using Pages and were able to look at the shots in chronological order. Consider storyboarding with pictures the next time you have a shoot and are a bit concerned about “winging it.”
