Creating creative space for creatives

I’ve had this rule ever since college that I sincerely believe fluorescent overhead lights are not good for you.  There is something about a halogen light or lamp that is more soothing to the soul than those harsh overhead ones that seem to scream at you for some odd reason.  Whether its lighting, paint colors or office furniture, consider putting that extra time and energy into making your office a place where you feel creative and are energized every time you get in there. If you don’t enjoy working in your office, the likelihood that you will be creative in there is probably not that great.

Below are some tips on creating a creative space either at work or home:
1. Refuse to use overhead lighting…buy lamps and halogen lights instead.
2. Paint your office something other than white.
3. Hang paintings or posters of something you created in your office.
4. Get a comfortable chair.
5. Take a trip to the office store and buy needed office equipment to stay organized.
6. Do some research and look at other creative offices for how to improve yours.
