Aesthetics and creatives

Aesthetics in the broadest since is the study of art or beauty.  In college it was one of my favorite classes and today it is still a subject I study and actually enjoy reading about.  John Maxwell is famous for saying that, “Leaders are Readers.”  I believe that if I am going to be a leader in the area of creating art in the church that I need to continue this study of art and seeking what is truly beautiful.   Recently I started reading Philosophies of Art and Beauty selected readings in aesthetics from plato to heidegger in attempt to brush up on my aesthetics knowledge.  Reading this has really helped me to see every project as one that is filled with artistic decisions that can be good or bad depending on my foundational view of beauty and art.
