Scheduling your week

One of the difficult obstacles to doing creative work is managing your time.  I have noticed if I don’t set very clear goals for the week, I can slowly become a victim of the tyranny of the urgent. David Allen has a great concept he calls a week in review. Basically the idea is to look at your week in the most strategic way possible and try to figure out the things you have to do and when you are going to do them.   Recently I started using google calendar and calengoo for my iphone so that whether I am at home, work or on the job I have an accurate calendar with me at all times.  In addition to doing a week in review and having  a mobile calendar, another idea to scheduling your week is to have specific days where you do specific things. Instead of having meetings scattered throughout the week, you might consider tackling them all in one day.

Here is what a typical work week looks for me
Monday
- plan and organize the week / website & social media updates
Tuesday - meetings all day
Wednesday - production day
Thursday – production day
Friday – catch up day
