Typographers and designers owe Saul Bass some props.

He was ahead of his time with design. He nearly single-handedly turn movie titles into an artform. Previous to Bass, movie titles only served the purpose of giving film credits. With Bass, titles became a highly stylized piece of motion art.

Ian Albinson, Editor-In-Chief of Art of the Title, made a video to celebrate the release of the book Saul Bass: A Life in Film & Design.
