Study: Why People Use Facebook

The answer to the question, “why do people use Facebook?” can be simplified with two answers.

1. The need to belong
2. The need for self-presentation

According to a study conducted by Boston University, belonging, self worth, and narcissism ranked up there as the top reasons.

A great article regarding this study along with other similar studies can be found on ReadWriteWeb.

I think this information is worthwhile for churches who are trying to build community and grow their audience on Facebook.
